Mayor of London’s Quietway route work to start on 27th February 2015

18th February, 2015

Highway improvement works on Surrey Canal Road are due to start on the 27th February 2015 and the initial works are due to last for 3 months. Works include lighting improvements, footway improvements, contraction of entry treatments to the estates and road entries along Surrey Canal Road from Ilderton Road to the junction of Trundley’s Road, including the junctions of Stockholm Road and Landmann Way roundabout. Although the majority of works will cause minimal disruption there maybe a requirement to implement temporary traffic management during this period.

Surrey Canal Road will form part of the Waterloo to Greenwich cycling Quietway. Quietways are a continuous network of new routes going across and around London. They link key destinations via well-signed routes on backstreets, through parks, or along waterways or tree-lined streets. These routes will provide less confident cyclists with a safe way to travel, while giving existing cyclists the chance to travel at a gentler pace. As part of this programme, certain areas will see surface improvements, the removal of barriers, and junction improvements.
